Teras Bali

Specialized in East meet West cuisine, the creative and talented Budi is in charge as a Head Chef of Teras Bali. Budi was born from an army officer family who had an opportunity to travel and stay in some of the differ and remote places in all over Indonesia, from the island of Sulawesi, Bali, Kalimantan, Sumatra and Java. This life experiences furnish him with the opportunity to try and learning how to cook different culinary style of Indonesia.



Inspired by his father’s cooking talent and the love of cooking from his mother, lead him to left the original plan for his career in law and drafted himself in Bandung National Hotel Institute, a prestige hotel school in Indonesia, since then he took steps in as a cook instead. Handpicked by Heinz Von Holzen of Grand Hyatt Bali, Budi started to work out his career from an apprentice at “Water Court Restaurant” a fine dining authentic Balinese restaurant. This experience has been giving him a strong knowledge, skill and opportunity for mastering Balinese Cuisine.

An international opportunity came when he moved to Zurich, Switzerland for years to sharpen his western culinary skills. After finishing his degree in Hotel Management, he was trusted to be a Sous Chef to open “Padi Restaurant” a Balinese fine dining Restaurant belong to Ritz Carlton Hotel Bali. Since then Budi has been moving and spreading his wings starting from Ritz Carlton Sydney, Stamford Hotel Group, Holiday Inn Sydney, and his last position was an Executive Chef in Hard Rock Hotel Bali and Hard Rock Hotel Pataya before he landed again in Sydney to serve you with his cuisine in Teras Bali, Walsh Bay Having experiences in different array of culinary background for 20 years, brought Budi to start merging the component of the Balinese cuisine with other Indonesian and western cuisine to achieve and creating the modern Indonesian Cuisine.

His food philosophy is based in the exploration of the texture of food and harmony of flavour, and his “brave” style by combining East and West food culture made him always explores and continues to refine his food, bringing exciting dining experiences to the table. Guest at Teras Bali can look forward for Budi’s inspired adaptation of an Indonesian contemporary and healthy cuisine, complemented by quality and freshness. With such a good team in the kitchen behind him, he also looks forward to meet his guest and share his experiences.
